# Subscription & Billing

ForkLine costs **$49.99 per month**, flat. No per-order commission, no contract, no minimum volume — the price is the same whether you take ten orders a month or a thousand.

This is separate from card processing, which is Stripe's fee paid to Stripe. See [Processing Fees Explained](/processing-fees).

## Your free month

New restaurants get **30 days free**. Your card is charged $49.99 at the end of it, and ForkLine emails a reminder **three days before** the trial ends so it isn't a surprise.

Cancel any time during the trial and you're charged nothing.

## Managing your subscription

Go to **Admin → Subscriptions**. You need **Owner** or **Manager** access — see [Users & Roles](/users-and-roles).

From here you can:

- See your current **status** — Trialing, Active, Past due, Paused, or Canceled
- See **when the next charge lands** and for how much
- **Update the card** on file
- **View your billing history**
- **Pause or cancel**

## Updating your payment method

1. Go to **Admin → Subscriptions**.
2. Choose to update your billing details.
3. Enter the new card.

Do this *before* your old card expires. A failed charge moves you to **Past due**, and repeated failures eventually suspend the account.

## If a payment fails

Your subscription moves to **Past due** and ForkLine emails you. Stripe retries automatically over several days.

**Your restaurant keeps operating during this window** — orders keep flowing and the register keeps working. Update the card from **Admin → Subscriptions** and the retry clears it.

## Pausing and cancelling

**Pausing** suits seasonal closures — a shore restaurant shut for winter, say. Billing stops; your menu, orders, customers, and settings stay exactly as they were.

**Cancelling** ends the subscription at the end of the period you've already paid for. There's no early-termination fee and no notice period.

Both are under **Admin → Subscriptions**.

> **Cancelling doesn't delete your data.** Your menu, order history, and customer records remain. If you come back, everything is where you left it. If you want data permanently deleted, ask support explicitly.

## Hardware

If you ordered a printer or tablet through ForkLine, the hardware setup cost is a separate one-time payment shown on the Subscriptions page. Monthly billing may be locked until it's paid.

Hardware you buy yourself — a compatible Star printer or cash drawer from any supplier — has no ForkLine charge attached. See [Receipt Printer Setup](/receipt-printer-setup).

## Frequently asked

**Is there a contract?** No. Month to month, cancel any time.

**Do you charge per order?** No. $49.99 covers any volume. The only per-order cost is Stripe's processing fee, paid to Stripe.

**Does the subscription come out of my payouts?** No — it's billed separately to the card on file. Your Stripe payouts are your order revenue minus Stripe's fees. See [Payouts & Timelines](/payouts).

**Can I run more than one location?** Yes, each location is its own restaurant with its own subscription. Ask support about multi-location setup.

**What if I need a custom price?** Some accounts have a negotiated monthly price, which shows on the Subscriptions page instead of the standard one.
